TITLE: Director of Finance

LOCATION: Major Metro Market

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Breakaway is a fast-growing music and entertainment company in search of a highly motivated and capable Director of Finance to support and promote profitable goals and objectives of all Breakaway Music Festival entities.

The Director of Finance will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing financial operations, helping the Finance team to optimizing accounting functions and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) processes. Utilizing a deep understanding of the unique dynamics of the live event and music festival business. Join us in shaping the future of entertainment finance at Breakaway Music Festival.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aid in the management of day-today accounting and finance activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, and mid to long-range financial planning and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare timely quarterly and annual financial statements for distribution to executive leadership, investors, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare materials for existing and potential new investors, including financial reports and presentations.
  • Evaluate potential cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and profitability enhancement.
  • Analyze trends of key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify causes of unexpected variances, providing insights to drive performance improvements.
  • Evaluate market trends and new business opportunities, conducting diligence and analysis of potential partnerships, acquisitions, and investments.
  • Compile fiscal estimates and prepare fiscal reports as requested, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Support development of procedures to ensure collections are complete and current, managing outside vendors and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with executive team members and departmental employees to develop, implement, and control essential operating systems, information, and financial business processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • CPA designation is a bonus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working within financial functions, with exposure to both accounting and FP&A.
  • Industry experience and an understanding of the unique dynamics within live events, particularly exposure to concerts and/or music festivals, is needed for this position.
  • Experience in FP&A with a track record of internal and external reporting and communication to executive teams, boards, and current/prospective investors.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the development and implementation of structured financial operating processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to thrive and collaborate in fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to multiple changing priorities.
