Capsule is the first video editing tool built exclusively for work, and we’re growing incredibly fast. Just a few months after leaving public beta, our video editor is already helping 100s of enterprises like HubSpot, ServiceNow, and Instacart create professional, on-brand videos at scale.

We are seeking a talented engineer to join our team and help build motion design systems for Capsule’s customers. In this role, you will work closely with our motion designers and engineers to craft animated design components in flexible code. This is a unique opportunity for a detail-oriented engineer to help Capsule build the new category of video design systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sophisticated motion templates using our custom JSON DSL

• Translate animated designs into clean, performant, and responsive code

• Engineer complex animation behaviors through scripting and expressions

• Develop reusable components to ensure consistency across the motion system

• Optimize template performance through testing and iterative development

• Collaborate with motion designers to implement their creative concepts in code

• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance on motion design best practices

• Work efficiently in our fast-paced startup environment

• Contribute to our collaborative, zero-ego work culture alongside other skilled team members

• Propose innovative ideas that expand our motion template capabilities and delight customers

Requirements

• Computer Science, Design, or related degree

• Proficiency with Javascript/JSON syntax and data structures

• Experience with real-time engineering

• Deep understanding of creative workflows and representing visual design accurately

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

• Detailed documentation and organizational abilities

• Passion for animation and interactive design

• Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows a plus

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with audio/video workflows

• Experience with SVG animation or web animation technologies

• Background in creative coding, game/graphics development or generative design
