About the Practicum role at Headspace:

The Headspace practicum experience provides the opportunity to gain skills in telehealth interventions as well as experience within a digital health company. Practicum students are closely supervised by licensed psychologists on the Headspace team and participate in a weekly didactic training seminar on a variety of topics relevant to their work at Headspace, with a particular emphasis on training in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Therapy sessions are video recorded and practicum students are provided weekly feedback on their skills. In addition to close contact with the clinical supervisor and the practicum program manager, the Headspace practicum experience provides the opportunity to learn about Headspace’s unique service delivery model, including the opportunity to collaborate with behavioral health coaches and leverage in-app content to help members gain skills and meet treatment goals. The practicum experience also provides the opportunity to gain exposure to a breadth of functions within the company, including marketing, sales, and product development. The remote nature of the training experience allows students to connect with trainees from other doctoral programs, as well as Headspace staff members from across the country; a unique and enriching opportunity.

The Headspace practicum placement is 10-20 hours per week for the academic year (9 months). The program manager works with students to identify and set their schedules. Privacy Statement

All member records are protected according to our Privacy Policy. Further, while employees of Headspace cannot access Headspace Care products/services, they will be offered benefits according to the company's benefit plan. To ensure we are adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines in the field of mental health, we take care to avoid dual relationships. A dual relationship occurs when a mental health care provider has a second, significantly different relationship with their client in addition to the traditional client-therapist relationship—including, for example, a managerial relationship.

As such, Headspace requests that individuals who have received coaching or clinical services at Headspace Care wait until their care with Headspace is complete before applying for a position. If someone with a Headspace Care account is hired for a position, please note their account will be deactivated and they will not be able to use Headspace Care services for the duration of their employment.

Further, if Headspace cannot find a role that fails to resolve an ethical issue associated with a dual relationship, Headspace may need to take steps to ensure ethical obligations are being adhered to, including a delayed start date or a potential leave of absence. Such steps would be taken to protect both the former member, as well as any relevant individuals from their care team, from impairment, risk of exploitation, or harm.
