About the Role
We’re looking for a visionary Head of Media for a stealth company in our portfolio to lead the editorial and content efforts across platforms, building a bold, ownable media brand that resonates with fans, artists, and brand partners. You’ll oversee a growing team of contributors, creatives, and strategists to develop content that spans short-form, long-form, video, digital, print, social, and live storytelling.
Responsibilities
Editorial & Content Strategy
- Define and execute a cross-platform editorial vision that reflects the company brand and music culture more broadly, with a particular strength in youth-driven storytelling.
- Shape a content calendar that includes original reporting, branded campaigns, artist features, fan stories, trend coverage, and culture-first ideas.
- Develop content franchises that build loyalty and identity, whether through recurring formats, series, or signature moments.
- Maintain a pulse on what’s moving in the music world (EDM, country, hip hop, pop, indie, and beyond), and infuse that into content creation.
Creative & Branded Content Leadership
- Partner with brand teams to pitch and produce breakthrough branded content that delivers on client goals while remaining true to editorial voice.
- Serve as the key creative stakeholder in client ideation sessions, branded content strategy, and integrated partnerships.
- Ensure that branded content is compelling, credible, and native to the brand’s media experience.
Team Building & Management
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a diverse team of writers, editors, producers, social strategists, and creative contributors.
- Foster a collaborative, feedback-rich environment that values experimentation, speed, and editorial integrity.
- Create processes for workflow, content approval, and cross-functional collaboration with marketing, partnerships, and production.
Content Production & Distribution
- Oversee content production across formats, video, photo, editorial, podcast, livestream, ensuring high-quality output.
- Build and manage a contributor network to extend reach across genres, cities, and subcultures.
- Partner with social and growth leads to amplify content across channels and ensure strong performance.
Audience Development & Performance
- Use insights, analytics, and trends to inform and refine content strategy.
- Set KPIs for editorial and branded content and measure performance against goals.
- Test and learn across formats and platforms to grow reach, engagement, and brand loyalty.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience leading content at a media company, brand studio, or editorial platform, preferably in music, entertainment, or youth culture.
- Proven ability to turn creative vision into a scalable, sustainable editorial operation.
- Strong storytelling chops, with editorial instincts and the business savvy to navigate client work.
- Deep understanding of social media, audience trends, and how to build fandom.
- Experience developing branded content that drives results without compromising editorial quality.
- A network of creatives, writers, and contributors in the music and culture space.
- Clear, compelling communication and presentation skills, able to sell ideas internally and externally.
- Affinity for live events, youth culture, and a love of music in all forms (with a soft spot for EDM).
Bonus Points
- Experience in video development, production, or podcasting
- Familiarity with media planning, distribution strategy, and first-party audience growth
- Understanding of how to monetize content via branded partnerships, subscriptions, or affiliate models
