Job Description

Inkwell is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to join our team. This full-time role is 100% remote. Work hours are Central or East Coast time. NYC area preferred to be available for occasional in-person meetings.

ROLE

As the Head of Engineering, you will be the bridge between product and engineering, ensuring that our technology solutions are aligned with our product vision and user needs. You will lead the engineering team with a product-first mindset, driving the development of features and products that deliver exceptional value to our customers. Your role will be crucial in translating product goals into engineering realities, ensuring seamless collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, user focus, and high-quality delivery.

  • Collaborate closely with the product team to define and prioritize product roadmaps, ensuring that technical execution aligns with product objectives.

  • Translate product requirements into actionable engineering plans, balancing user needs with technical feasibility.

  • Oversee the design and development of scalable, reliable, and maintainable products, ensuring a smooth user experience.

  • Work closely with design and product teams to iterate on features and functionality based on user feedback and data insights.

  • Manage technical debt and architecture, ensuring that our product can scale with growth and evolving user needs.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, agile methodologies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products, applying insights to enhance our offerings.

CANDIDATE

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within product-focused engineering teams, ideally at a startup or in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong background in product development, with an understanding of how to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

  • Ability to think strategically about product vision while also being hands-on in driving engineering execution.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and marketing.

  • Experience with agile development, user-centered design, and product lifecycle management.

  • Passion for building products that solve real-world problems and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.

The base compensation for this role is $175k-$200k.
