Helium Health is seeking an experienced Head, Data to join their team. This full-time hybrid position is located in Los Angeles, CA with Africa, Europe, and United States travel required.​

ROLE

Helium Health is seeking a strategic and growth-focused leader to drive the development and commercialization of data products. As the Head, Data, you will lead efforts to enhance product positioning, create actionable strategies, and deliver data solutions that empower diverse regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data strategy, product development, and commercialization, with proven expertise in navigating complex health data challenges. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to align data initiatives with business objectives, are essential for success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Strategy and Data Product Development:

  • Create solutions to complex health data related business problems / opportunities requiring in-depth knowledge of client buyer needs.

  • Formulate and implement strategies that speak to diverse domains, including but not limited to, Data Services, Data Management, Utilization and Horizontal Services, External Data Sharing, Machine Learning and AI.

  • Work closely with teams to identify and understand gaps that exist in commercialization and product adoption, proffer appropriate solutions.

  • Develop pricing models for data products, considering market demand, value proposition, and competitive landscape.

  • Collaborate with the product and growth teams to identify and prioritize data products with commercial potential, ensuring they meet market demands.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, presenting data commercialization opportunities, progress, and results.

Data Commercialization:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the commercialization of data assets, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.

  • Identify and develop novel data products and services, lead the commercial activation and operational aspects of data innovations and partnerships. Formulate a roadmap to expedite adoption and reduce time to market.

  • Drive revenue generation through the development and implementation of effective data commercialization strategies. Assume responsibility for the business including Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for data commercialization efforts and regularly monitor and report on performance.

  • Establish and nurture partnerships with external organizations, data vendors, and potential clients to enhance data commercialization prospects.

  • Engage with senior management levels both at client organizations and within the company to confirm strategies. Develop client engagement plans, nurture relationships, and apply industry-leading practices.

  • Negotiate partnership agreements and contracts, ensuring they align with the organization's goals.

  • Collaborate with other growth teams to develop effective outreach strategies.

  • Scope and drive grants from conversations to submission in order to attain a sustainable win rate.

  • Conduct market analysis to identify potential opportunities for data monetization, understanding industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs.

  • Oversee marketing efforts for data products and create strategic intent for various distribution channels.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in data monetization.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and manage a team to achieve business objectives.

  • Lead the cross-functional team involved in Data & Insights, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Compliance and Legal Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and legal standards in all Data & Insights activities.

CANDIDATE

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10+ years proven experience in selling data solutions / designing and commercializing data products.

  • Experience in the healthcare or healthtech sector is an advantage.

  • Strong business acumen with a track record of successful commercialization initiatives.

  • Familiarity with data privacy and protection regulations.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong executive communication skills and stakeholder engagement abilities.

  • Extensive experience in decision-making, involving critical assessment of objectives and determining the most effective approaches to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities.

  • Knowledge of public health trends, challenges, and key stakeholders.

  • First degree in Business, Data Sciences, or a related field.

The compensation for this role is $150-$180k plus bonus depending on experience.
