Our client is seeking an experienced Development and Marketing Director to join their team. This is a full-time on-site position with scheduling flexibility in San Martin, CA.

This service dog organization is dedicated to providing transformative support to individuals experiencing complex trauma and health challenges. The organization employs a holistic approach, working in collaboration with other providers to benefit clients and their families.
ROLE
The Development and Marketing Director will play a key role in driving the growth and sustainability of the organization by leading fundraising efforts, managing donor relationships, and executing strategic marketing and communications initiatives. This individual will bring innovative ideas to enhance awareness, engage donors, and secure funding to support key programs and services. The ideal candidate is motivated, self driven, and has a passion for providing service dogs to those in need.
Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development:
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue goals, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations.
Grant Writing: Identify grant opportunities, prepare compelling proposals, and oversee submission and reporting processes.
Donor Stewardship: Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring they are engaged and informed about the impact of their contributions.
Event Planning: Organize fundraising events such as galas, auctions, and donor appreciation gatherings, managing logistics and promotional efforts.
Database Management: Maintain an accurate donor database to track contributions and interactions, ensuring timely and consistent recognition.
Marketing & Communications:
Brand Strategy: Develop and execute marketing plans to enhance the organization’s visibility and attract donor support.
Content Creation: Produce engaging content across platforms, including social media, newsletters, blogs, website updates, and press releases.
Media Relations: Cultivate media relationships to secure press coverage and raise awareness of the organization’s mission.
Digital Marketing: Leverage social media, SEO, and other digital tools to expand the organization’s online presence and supporter engagement.
Storytelling: Craft and share impactful stories to foster emotional connections with the community and donors.
Program Support:
Educational Materials: Develop materials highlighting the benefits of service dogs for individuals with physical and mental health challenges.
Collaboration: Work closely with the leadership team and program staff to stay informed on organizational needs and impact stories.
CANDIDATE
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
At least 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, marketing, or communications, with a proven track record of success.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and content creation.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to inspire and engage donors and supporters.
Familiarity with fundraising strategies, donor stewardship, and donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Donor Perfect, or similar platforms).
Experience with social media management and digital marketing tools (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Google Analytics, Canva, Hootsuite, etc.).
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Creative thinker with the ability to develop new approaches to donor engagement and program marketing.
Must understand the organization’s history, mission, goals and values and communicate it to the public and donors.
Ability to represent the organization at public events and in other contexts as needed.
Willingness to partner with other staff and departments.
Ability to provide prepared monthly reports evaluating fundraising efforts and progress.
Understand restricted and non-restricted funds.

The compensation for this role is $90k-$100k depending on experience.
