Steno is growing! We're looking for an Art Director to join our winning team, which is revolutionizing the court reporting industry every single day. We're a diverse team from all over the US (and beyond) and we're crazy about redefining the boundaries of an outdated industry.
Reporting to the Director of Content and Communications, you will establish Steno's 2026 visual direction and build a scalable brand system to deliver unique and templated designs with a growing team of graphic designers.
Who are you?
We're seeking an Art Director with a strong marketing design background who blends art and business to create brand experiences that captivate even the most discerning audiences. You have 5+ years of experience leading art direction with an impressive portfolio, a proven track record of evolving high-visibility brands and establishing visual systems that scale.

On a regular basis you will
- Define and evolve Steno’s visual direction into a cohesive, elevated aesthetic.
- Lead the refresh of Steno’s brand, website, and all other brand expressions.
- Develop creative concepts for marketing, sales, events, and digital channels.
- Ensure brand consistency and excellence across all design outputs.
- Audit and evolve the brand system and style guide for scalability and agency use.
- Build and maintain a library of templates, icons, and collateral for multi-platform use.
- Establish clear workflows and organized file structures using Asana.
- Collaborate crossfunctionally to create visually compelling materials and campaigns.
- Design and produce impactful digital content, tradeshow collateral and sales enablement assets.
- Build self-serve templates and assets that empower internal and external teams.
- Oversee brand fidelity across video, print, and digital executions.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of designers with clear creative direction.
- Partner cross-functionally to translate business goals into engaging visuals.
- Review and guide agency work to ensure brand alignment.
- Manage multiple design projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
You’re gonna crush it if
- You have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Web Design, or related field, along with 10+ years of experience in graphic/marketing design, including 5+ years proven experience leading the art direction for a beautiful brand.
- You live and breathe art and design. You have strong aesthetic instincts and can converse fluently about art, culture and trends.
- You are bilingual (Spanish/English) who can lead creative conversations and collaborate seamlessly in both languages.
- You have proven experience building and managing a growing team of graphic designers, and fostering their growth. You are an exceptional people manager who can effectively train, lead, motivate and delegate.
- You have proven experience building a brand, and executing and scaling a brand design system to meet growing demand through templated content.
- Your portfolio showcases clear examples of all types of marketing designs listed digital and print media, websites, social media, video, tradeshow booths, and swag, with clear examples of cohesive brand systems you've built.
- You're a master in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant software (Figma, Canva), including video editing.
- You have experience in web design, including wireframing and website graphics
- You excel at managing brand identity and integrity across diverse applications.
- You know project management software (like Asana) and have experience managing team workflows this way.
- You're comfortable working with and directing remote team members across time zones.
- You can balance creative excellence with business objectives and timelines.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary - $135,000- $165,000
