Job Description
The Sr. Director of National Accounts will be responsible for leading the overall CKBG National Account strategy, owning and continually improving upon customer relationships at the National account level On & Off Premise. They will oversee strategic sales volume, distribution and rate of sale growth while developing joint business plans and programming customized to National & Regional account retailers and communicating CKBG’s brand priorities to both National account buyers and internal (Wholesaler & CKBG) customers. The Sr. Dir, National Accounts will be the face of CKBG to targeted On & Off Premise multi-unit account buyers. This role will work closely with CKBG leadership and brand leads to improve share position within brand categories.
Responsibilities
- Exceptional knowledge of the 3-tier system and National Account process timelines
- Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple internal departments, with distributor partners and in collaboration with National Account customers
- Dynamic interpersonal and customer management skills with the ability to engage and manage several key accounts and their individual departments (e-retail, buyers, educators, store employees, marketing, etc.)
- Excellent strategic planning, analytic, organizational, presentation and communication skills
- Experience and understanding of the needs of both On & Off Premise National Account partners
- True consultative selling partner that can balance both short and long term partnership goals, adding value to each CKBG National Account partners business
Strategy & Planning
- Development of overall National Accounts & Regional Account sales strategy in collaboration with the VP of Commercial Strategy & Brand level leaders
- PMO (Project Management Optimization) review and update to align brand joint business planning with partner process timeline needs
- Align growth strategies of brand level to National/Regional account opportunities
- Plan, forecast and communicate pricing and promotional strategies for National accounts
- Develop/forecast joint business planning to the National/key account level
- Partner with the CKBG Brand Managers to establish channel strategy and standards of Trade resources (POS) along with programming needs as identified in collaboration
Business Development
- Lead customer business development and relationship management
- Identify and lead RFP processes/pitches with targeted National Accounts partners in collaboration with brand leaders
- Set cadence plan with partners that are inclusive of occasional top-to-top discussions
- Meet face-to-face with targeted accounts, as appropriate
- Be available for night and weekend entertainment opportunities with National Account partners to drive relationship development
- Achieve preferred supplier status over time
Sales Intelligence/Data Analysis
- Assess biggest opportunities for driving share growth across brands, and have the ability to present growth stories with National Account partners in an effective way
- Work with Director of Commercial Strategy and Commercial Analyst to identify key data reporting needs and build custom reporting by targeted account as needed
- Ability to pull and build custom reports in VIP/iDig, Nielsen and IRI
- Experience in navigating key account data collection systems and quickly turning around analysis in customers’ preferred method and lingo
Forecasting
- Ability to forecast ahead by 3, 6 and 12 month looks at business based on known or expected variables/commitments
- Build and oversee account budgets, working alongside brand owners for individual opportunities
- Establish/execute against projected goals in growth and share for medium term 1 year plans and long term 3 year plans
Internal
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing startup environment
- Communicate monthly execution priorities throughout the individual brand for key National Account/Regional customers
- Facilitate clear communication of all programming including execution expectations to CKBG field sales teams, marketing team and distributors
- Be the sales expert in the Grocery and Retail Sales Channel and the lead the individual Brand team management to function as the sales mentors/coaches for regional and field sales teams
- Guide performance feedback to Brand teams and align on opportunities to take action against share, volume, velocity and distribution growth
- Build and/or contribute to strategic structure evolution based on business needs
Requirements
- 5-7 years of beverage industry experience
- 2 years management experience
- Experience in managing relationships with Kroger, ABSCO, Total Wine, Target or Marriott a plus
- BS/BA degree in finance, business, marketing or related field
- Deep knowledge of the 3-Tier system
- Intermediate knowledge of National & Regional account processes
- Advanced computer software proficiency (word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint, internet).
- High level of expertise in analyzing information and making information based recommendations.
- Strong familiarity with syndicated data, software and measures is preferred.
- Effective communications/presentation, follow-up, administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team start-up environment
Benefits & Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000 annually. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to the defined job requirements. In general, actual salaries will fall somewhere in the middle of the range.
This is a remote position with travel 30-40% of the time, depending upon the location.
